The fitness industry is a beast.
There are tons of ways to do one thing, loads of information (based on science or personal experience), and literally everything is conflicting (no carbs ever, eat carbs, eggs yolks are good, egg yolks will kill you). Then there’s the physical appearance side of things. The media tells us that skinny is beautiful and that we should do what we can to get there. There’s also the strong is the new skinny movement, which I love but still an underlying focus on physical appearance. You’ve seen the programs: 6 pack abs in 6 weeks or get bikini body ready. Then there’s the love your body group, which I also love because of the bigger focus on your health (yes).
I’m a hybrid strong is the new skinny and love your body fan because you can love your body and still want to make changes to it (myself included). And sometimes those changed are better for our health. Making these changes from a place of loving your body vs hating it makes the journey much more enjoyable. You enjoy the workouts because they won’t be viewed negatively. You’ll look forward to your serving of veggies because it makes you feel good and not like a punishment. It’s a new way of thinking and took me sometime as well. I used to say I loved working out, but I was so trapped in my negative thoughts about myself that it wasn’t entirely true.
But after shifting my thinking, I legit love working out and eating better. It makes me feel amazing, and I view it as a thank you to my body for keeping me alive. Oh and it makes me feel confident as hell. Not specifically because of how my body looks but also how I feel and that sense of accomplishment.
It’s my mission to have more women feel that way, to take control of their lives and see what they’re truly capable of.
It’s our time! To get off the sidelines of our own life and live our lives. To go from just surviving each day to thriving and accomplishing amazing things. And that really all starts with confidence in ourselves and belief that we can do it. Having a support system is crucial to getting you there. You need people on your team to hold you accountable and be there for you as you become the woman who kicks ass at life. It’s about doing you and not giving a damn. It’s about being confident in yourself, to present your ideas and thoughts to the world, to stand tall as your face challenges, to get in the weight room and know what the hell you’re doing, to ask for that raise or promotion you deserve, to go on that vacation you’ve been dreaming of without worry.
It’s so many things than just your physical appearance. But working on yourself, gaining more energy, feeling amazing; those things all open the doors to living a thriving life. It’s start with one thing that puts more focus on you and your needs. When your needs are satisfied, it does wonders to your life and the people you love and care about the most. It’s time to be your best and most thriving self. It’s time to be you confidently!
