Portions and portion control are simple ways to lose weight, get lean, and not go crazy counting calories.

We’ve become so used to counting calories and making eating a math equation. We get so worried about it that we end up eating the same 3 meals that we’ve already logged into MyFitnessPal. We even skip dinner dates and happy hour because we don’t know everything they put in the food.

It takes all the pleasure out of eating because we’ve also been taught we can’t lose weight or get lean and enjoy food. I’ve struggled a lot with my relationship with food, from strict meal plans to guilt from eating dessert.  Luckily that doesn’t have to be the case anymore!

Follow these simple portions to lose weight, get lean, and enjoy eating again!

The goal is to get these portions at each meal. But start where you are. If you don’t eat any veggies right now, start with a serving at just dinner. If veggies with breakfast aren’t your thing, have a snack that includes veggies. Remember, it doesn’t have to be done perfectly, just consistently. Aim to follow this 80% of the time, allowing 20% of the time for life to happen and indulge from time to time.

Seriously, these portions are so simple and still allow you to control how much you’re eating without feeling deprived. You can use these portions when you’re cooking at home, at a lunch meeting, or when it’s date night with your sig other or bff. I use these portions myself. Not only is it simple, but it’s helped me improve my relationship with food and get in the best shape of my life!
